INTRODUCTION
After you have chosen and customized your character, you will find yourself face-down on a beach. A man by the name of Kalanthes will approach you.

He'll tell you that you have landed on the Island of Tortage, in the Barachan Isles, west of Hyboria. You have been shipwrecked, and the slavemaster that held you captive on the ship has already begun his way to the city of Tortage. The city is unwelcoming of slaves, and if the slavemaster were to reach it first, you would end up being stuck outside, and left to die in the jungle.

He'll then tell you if you manage to beat the slavemaster to the city, to seek out a woman by the name of Nadini; and tell her Kalanthes of Ibis sent you.

CASILDA
After your chat with Kalanthes, head east up the path a bit. You'll come across a woman in chains. Her name is Casilda and she will tell you that she was a captive of the "Tyrant of Tortage" and she was trying to run away, but was captured less than an hour ago by "The Scavenger," a raider captain from Tortage, and chained up.

She'll tell you that the Scavenger has the key and he's just down on the beach, picking through the remains of the ship.

I. The Scavenger

The Scavenger

[COLOR=Gray]"I met a woman in chains, and she begged me to free her. I must kill the scavenger that captured her, and search him for the key to the chains. The scavenger is somewhere on the beach."

Kill the Scavenger

Casilda needs to be freed from her chains. The Scavenger that chained her up is found on the beach. Head back west, and then a bit south, you'll come across Scavenger Tuut. He's a level 1, so he won't pose any threat. Besides, this is the tutorial, so he won't even attack as the game explains to you how to use the combat system.

After you've killed Tuut, you'll progress onto the next step of the quest: "The Scavenger's Key."

II. The Scavenger's Key

The Scavenger's Key

"I must take the key from the scavenger I fought so that I can free Casilda. The key is probably in the bag he dropped."

Get the Scavenger's Key

Fighting Tuut was pretty easy. After he dies, he'll drop a bag. Loot the bag and you'll come across the key for Casilda's chains.

If you'd like a bit more experience before you move on from here, there are a couple of pirates just south of Tuut. If you continue past them and to the west, you'll come across a bunch of crocodiles. In the melee is an Anceint Crocodile, who is a boss encounter. After you kill him, you can get some random loot from the box behind him.

Alternatively, if you follow the beach north and to the west, past Kalanthes, you'll find more crocs. They, too, are all level one and make for good, fast experience.

III. Freeing the Captured

Freeing the Captured

"I have the scavenger's key, and I must use it to free Casilda. When her chains are unlocked, I'll talk to her."

Free Casilda

With key in hand, run back to Casilda, and speak with her. She'll be mighty thankful you saved her from a fate quite likely worse than death. She'll also tell you that she can reward you once you have her safely back to the city.

This will also progress you to the next, and final part of the quest: "Casilda."

IV. Casilda

Casilda

"I freed Casilda from her chains, and I promised to escort her to the city of Tortage. I must fight my way through the jungle to reach the city.

Escort Casilda to the city

Casilda will now follow you as you fight your way through the jungle. Your goal here, is obviously to get her to the city. Don't worry too much about her, as it seems impossible to kill her. That being said though, she's also not much help in fights.

As the goal is to reach the city, it overlaps with the "Shipwrecked" quest line. So read through that for the details on getting to the city of Tortage.

Once you reach the gate to Tortage, Casilda will part ways with you. She will tell you that she has very little of value, but if you meet up with her again in the city, she'll reward you in some other kind of way.

SHIPWRECKED

I. The Slaver

The Slaver

"Waking up on a strange beach, I cannot remember who I am. I was helped by a man called Kalanthes. He told me that I should go to the city of Tortage to learn about my past, and about the strange mark I have on my chest. He said that there was another survivor, the slaver from the ship. I must find him and kill him before he reaches the city!"

Enter the Jungle

After freeing Casilda from her chains, you can begin embarking on your journey to and through the jungle. The waypoint to update the quest is east. Beware though. As soon as you go a little east of Casilda's chains, you'll be ambushed by a few pillagers. They shouldn't pose too much a threat, but they can catch you off guard.

If you want to get a bit more loot and experience before you enter the jungle, you can go directly north or south past Casilda's chains to find two mini-bosses.

To the north, you'll find Kier-Dheed. He typically has a couple pillagers and a panther with him; so proceed with caution. Once he's dead, grab some loot from the box at the back of the camp.

Etuu-Agh is a little harder than Kheer-Dheed. He has a couple more guards, and a few more hit points. He should drop some loot for you.

Proceed east to continue the quest, and "enter the jungle," killing all pillagers along the way.

Kill the Slaver

Now you should be "officially" in the jungle.

Continue south-east and just follow the trail, killing the baddies as you see them. The trail bends around into an "S" shape which eventually leads you directly to the Slaver, Saddur.

Along the way, you will come across a Head Poacher who may have some more loot for you..

You'll also come to the Pict Camp Outskirts Resurrection Point which will ensure, if you die, you can resurrect at this point.

Before reaching Saddur, you probably will have polished off so many pillagers, poachers and pict perpetrators, potentially you are prone to have powered to a professional, yet puerile and proportionate level. If so, familiarize yourself with your new combos. They will come in handy to help you kill more faster.

You'll find Saddur waiting for you by a gate just past the pict camp. As you approach him, you'll be delivered into a cutscene during which Saddur will mock you as his "property." He'll tell you the gate behind him is locked, and the key is protected by a demon in the nearby ruins. He'll try to negotiate by making an agreement with you that if you were to fetch the key from the beast, he won't kill you, but rather take you to Tortage and sell you there. Obviously, you'll have none of that, and challenge Saddur to a fight to the death.

Saddur does seem to have a good amount of hit points, but you'll find he dies pretty easily. Once you've killed him, you will progress onto the next part of the quest: "The Acheronian Gate." He'll also drop some pretty decent loot, which you may or may not be able to use pending your class and what he drops.

II. The Acheronian Gate
"I've killed the slaver. Before he died, he mentioned a key to the locked gate blocking my way to the city of Tortage. He talked of some strange beast guarding it, so I better be careful.

The key is nearby, in the strange ruins up the hill. When I have it, I can return to unlock the gate and continue towards the city."

Find the gate key

With Saddur dead, head north to find the beast he spoke of. Along the way you'll encounter many more picts which you'll need to dispose of. They're not too tough, but there's a lot of them, so take your time. You'll fight your way through another pict camp, and eventually reach a gate, beyond which, the demon Saddur told you about will be laying in wait.

Along the way, you may encounter a boss pict, the Bat Pict Shaman. He is level 4 and will usually drop more loot for you.

Keep heading north, through the archway. There, you'll find the Jungle Demon Fha'quth, a level four boss encounter. He'll be guarding an acheronian chest, in which you can find the key. There will also be a guard or two patrolling the area. Kill the guards, kill the Fha'quth and get the key. There's also a chest of loot to the east in this area.

Unlock the Acheronian Gate

Once you have the key, you can head back south to the Acheronian Gate, where you killed Saddur. There are no respawns here, so what you have killed will still be dead.

Climb the stairs and open the gate. You will then complete this part of the quest line and move on to the next section: "The City of Tortage."

III. The City of Tortage
The City of Tortage
"I've made it through the gate. I should continue to the city to find the old sage Nadini, who Kalanthes told me to see. I wonder if the guards will let me in?"

Enter the City of Tortage
With the Acheronian Gate open, you will now be able to proceed east to Tortage. However, the route is filled with damn dirty apes. There are a bunch of them and they range in level. They shouldn't cause any real issues though.

If you continue east, you'll eventually come across the Ape King. He's a boss encounter and will be the only thing left blocking your way to Tortage. You'll find him just before the bridge to the gate. Once you dispatch him, you'll have a free run to Tortage. There is also a chest to the south behind two more apes.

Upon reaching the gate as well, you'll proceed into a cutscene with Casilda, who will thank you for rescuing her, part ways with you, and tell you that if you come see her in the city she'll find other means to reward you. Hubba.

Pass through the gate and you'll find yourself in the City of Tortage region. You'll be able to see the city walls just east of where you stand. Head over there, and outside the city gate, you'll see Laranga. He is a city guard, and will not let you pass right away. He'll tell you that you cannot enter as you are wearing prisoner shackles, and the Red Hand does not tolerate escaped slaves within the city walls.

The Red Hand is an army of guards who have occupied Tortage under the leadership of a man named Strom. They will play a large role during the rest of your time in the city, and you'll soon learn to despise them.

But for now, you will need to remove the shackles. Laranga is a decent man, and will tell you that one of the city's blacksmiths, Turach, is outside the city currently, and you could speak with him to remove the shackles.

Your conversation with Laranga will advance you to the next stage in the quest line: "The Blacksmith."

IV. The Blacksmith
The Blacksmith
"My shackles mark me as an escaped prisoner, and I need to get rid of them. A city guard told me to talk to a balcksmith called Turach, working by the lava river."

Talk to Turach

You will find Turach just west of Laranga and Tortage. Speak to him, and you will ask him if he can break the shackles.

He'll tell you that while he can do it, he doesn't have the time, as the lava is rising and he needs to finish building a dam, otherwise Tortage will be drowned in lava.

You can offer to help him out, as time is short. He'll tell you that he needs stonebricks from a quarry not too far away.

Additionally there is another dialog path when you speak with him that will explain how his horse was scared away, carrying all of his supplies. That is why he needs you to get more stonebricks. If you pry further, he'll cut you off, telling you there's no time for folklore about demons. When people hear screams in the wild, people believe it's because of the demons, he'll say.

Once you're through speaking with him, youll be on the next section of the quest line: "The Quarry."

V. The Quarry
The Quarry
"I've got to get stonebricks for Turach, at the stone quarry near the city. With them, he can finish the lava dam and save the city from the lava flow. If I do this, he will free me from my shackles."

Get 3 stone bricks

The quarry can be found northeast of Turach. It's not super easy to get to though, as there are a few pirates camped out in the area. If you go barging in, they're likely to team up on you and smack you down, so it's best to take your time or find a way to sneak past them.

Go to the northwest section by the pirate camp at location 922, 847, and you will be able to click on the bricks scattered about the ground. You'll need three of them.

But heads up! You may awaken a demon while you're tromping about. If you do, forget about the bricks and dispatch him first.

Deliver the 3 stone bricks to Turach

Now head back to Turach, again being mindful of the pirates in the way. Speak with Turach, and give him the stone bricks. He'll be happy you brought them back and reward you by removing your shackles.

This will trigger the next part of the quest: "The Guard."

VI. The Guard
The Guard
"I'm free of those cursed shackles. Now I need to talk to that guard again, to see if he will let me into the city. There I must find the seer that Kalanthes spoke of, Nadini."

Talk to the city guard

Head back to Laranga to let him know you are freed of the shackles.

He'll agree to let you into the city under one condition: that you bring a letter to the barmaid Tina in the Thirsty Dog Tavern.

It would seem the two have some sort of chemistry between them, but he won't go into any details.

Once you agree to take the letter to Tina, you can pass through the city gate and continue on to the next part of the quest series: "The Barmaid."

VII. The Barmaid
The Barmaid
"The city guard Laranga asked me to bring a note to the barmaid Tina in the Thirsty Dog Inn inside the city, in exchange for him letting me into the city. The Inn is near the city gate."

Give Laranga's letter to Tina

Go into the city and make an immediate right. You will see the Thirsty Dog right there.

Walk in, and you'll see Tina standing at the in the main room. Head over to her and give her Laranga's letter.

She, like Laranga, won't go into any details as to what's between them, but she will be thankful that you brought her the letter.

Ask Tina about Nadini

When you ask about Nadini, Tina will tell you that she lives by herself in an alley to the southeast. She'll tell you that the Red Hand are not Nadini's greatest fans, and that you won't want to be seen with her, so you should go by the cover of night. She'll also make mention that your past is a secret that should be kept from the Red Hand. For more details about that, you'll need to speak with Nadini.

She'll then offer you her bed (no, not like that). When you speak to your class master in the inn from this point on (varies per archetype), you'll be able to switch game modes from single-player to massively multiplayer. Single player takes place at night and multiplayer is during the day. Simply speak to your class master any time you want to switch between modes.

VIII. Nadini
Nadini
"As the night has fallen, I can seek out Nadini. Kalanthes said she could help me retrieve my lost memory. According to Tina, she lives in a house in an alley in the southeast part of the city."

Talk to Nadini
Make your way from the Thirsty Dog Inn to the southeast to Nadini's house. Inside, you'll find Nadini who will shed a bit of light on this whole situation for you.

At first she will be a little suspicious, but then you'll tell her that Kalanthes sent you, and she'll open right up.

She'll tell you that the tyrant of Tortage, otherwise known as Strom, never lets anyone leave the island, and she'll help you build a new life here, if you wish.

She'll also remark on the mark on your chest. She'll ask you to close your eyes, and tell her what memories you see. Your response, and the dialog that ensues will be purely based on your chosen class. At the end of the dialog, the quest will complete and Nadini will have told you which person within the city to go visit, based on your class. This will end the "Shipwrecked" quest line and begin your class-specific Destiny Quest.

Oooo! Pretty guide! Lots of pictures. What is the point of a MMO that seems like it has a story mode though?
