I was tethering my iPhone as my electricity fell out here and then started calling someone via Skype. The quality was awesome although I was simply connected via 3G.

I felt like doing a Speedtest on Speedtest.net and here are my results whilst tethering:

That's around 150 KB/second which is more than enough for doing any sort of online activity.

My ISP (T-Mobile) doesn't officially allow it yet but will hopefully do so in the future.
