How To Make Your Own Subtitles
Hey everyone
I wanted to share some knowledge about subtitles: Its a common problem, you just downloaded a movie, but you can't find any subtitles for it.
Okay, so first before you do anything, visit one of these webpages to check if your video has subtitles avaiable (we don't want to waste a hole bunch of time making subtitles if its allready made)
Try some of these (i know there is lots more, but these are recommend):
Subscene
Divxstation - Your station for all things DivX
To watch your movie i highly recommend VLC Media player, It has much of codecs builded in, so it can play allmost everything
Okay. Lets start. first you need a program which can generate .srt files. In this tutorial i will use "Subtitle Workshop" Download here: Subtitle Workshop Download - Softpedia
1) Open the program and go to: Movie -> Open.. and find your video. Be sure your movie can be seen in the program when you run it, if not, download some codeces, just google codecs, and download the newest ones.
2) When the movie is openend, you are ready to begin.
Play your movie with this button:

Stop your movie with this one:

3) When the movie is launched, we have to do the right settings for the program. To the left choose these options:
Mode: Time
Input FPS: 23.976 (How many frames which is shown per second)
Work with: Final time
The 3 dropdown menues:
EastEurope
EastEurope
Default
Now when the settings is done, go to: "File -> New Subtitle"
Press control + U to remove the translation box which we don't need.
Now you're ready to start your subtile. Play the movie, and wait until someone says something, when you hear someone say something stop the movie and press the "insert" key on your keyboard. Now write in the text you want to be shown in the text box.
Watch to the left of the movie, and make sure you input WHEN the subtitle is going to be shown, and when it has to hide again...
When the movie is stopped look to the left and copy the numbers down to where it has to start. here is an exampel:

This is were you stopped the movie. Put the numbers down to the left bottom side. this is were you want the subtitle to appear on the screen, now play the movie a bit futher, stop it when you want the subtitle to hide again, and copy the numbers down to the hide box. Now its all coded in. Try playing your movie again, and see the result,
Pretty cool, Right?
When you are finished, go to File -> Safe as -> And choose the "SubRip"
NOTE! It doesn't take an hour to make a subtitle to a movie, it can take days, everything has to fit perfect..
I hope this helped some of you. Enjoy
