Diablo 3 release dates? Is it going to be the SC2 wait all over again?

Before sc2 was released, there were rumors for years that it was 'in the works'.

So, when people hear "diablo 3", and dates being pushed back further and further, it may ring bells of deja vu.

However, I think we can all agree, that after the merger of Blizzard Entertainment and Activision, releases have been much more streamlined. The best example is of WoW pumping out expansions over the past years. The "old blizzard" never pumped out anything in a quick fashion.



Furthermore, the latest date, the 3rd fiscal quarter (july - september), was released to investors.
Theres a big difference between upsetting fans in a blog, and upsetting your investors.

I firmly believe that, in order to satisfy investors, a Diablo 3 beta is going to be released in the 3rd quarter, even if its not finished.

The 3rd quarter reference in the earning's call today was a calendar quarter, meaning that we're aiming to launch the Diablo III beta between July 1st and September 30th. Keep in mind that it's our current goal, and of course that can change as development continues.
