Rep Power: 2 | | this game has been confirmed to be online using b.net it will be free anyway. they have always provided free access to b.net i doubt they will start charging for it now. unless your planing on pirating d3 when it comes out dont bother with private servers. |

Rep Power: 2 | | I've heard some rumors about charging for online play with D3. To be honest I don't think it's true, but I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard chose to do that. Even if they did charge, I'd still play. Anyway to help a company that makes incredible games is fine by me. |

I don’t see any reason why private servers would be widespread though unless Blizzard decides to charge a monthly fee for playing Diablo 3. This would be a shame, and they would likely lose a lot of players from this; many people I know already are frustrated enough with constantly having to pay for World of Warcraft.
There are plenty of private servers for monthly fee games, and companies lose a lot of money from them. If Blizzard are sensible, whilst World of Warcraft is still booming, they will make their games free to play online after the game has been purchased. Blizzard’s new MMO (not Diablo 3) may well be pay to play, but this will only be released after the hype over World of Warcraft has died down, I suspect. |
