How much money does PP take off

So I was wondering when you make a transaction and send someone money via Paypal how much (%) money do they take off for them self? Because someone payed me and I didn't get the full amount. The gross it says was $2 and I got 1.62 of it. I could do the math and find out probably but does anyone know for sure?

I varies a lot! It is free at times and also as low as 0.30$

When I have had transactions more than 100$, the fees would be around 5$.

It depends on what mode of payment is chosen, if it is GOODS or SERVICES.

Personal payments "Payment owed" used to free. However, that option isn't available anymore in my region.

Fees also varies if your account is Personnal or Business account.

    * As low as 1.9% for Express Checkout transactions. The $0.30 USD fixed fee is assessed for each authorization attempt. This includes authorizations, declined payments, and completed transactions..

So then if I told someone it costs $2 for something then how do I ensure I get $2 and not that 1.62 again?

It gives you this purchase option and personal option when sending. So you would pick personal and the would you pick Gift so that you don't loose any?

Make sure the person send you the $2 as gift so there wont be any charges. (not that I remember)

You only received 1.62$ because there are taxes payed for tranfer money. The guy who sends as to choose a option which is the sender pays or the receiver pays. If that money was from a PTC, ofc they will say that receiver pays.

If PAYMENT OWED option is available, ask the person to send you selecting that option. Fees wouldn't be charged. I'm not sure if the option is active now.

Probably you can also mention the buyer to add 1$ or 0.50$ as fees which wouldn't affect you in any way. This rate would be better only if transactions are less than 10$.
