Tricking router?
Ok, heres my situation.
My parents turn off I-net at 9.30 or so every night (school night).
I want to be on later then that, but its right next to their room, so my dad
sees it every time he gets up to go to the bathroom.
There are three lights that tell its on, that you can clearly see. Can anyone
think of a way for me to be able to turn on my internet with out them seeing
it? such as... umm computer smart people stuff (I'm not too good at I-Net
stuff).
I don't know if this is possible, please don't call me stupid if its not -.- I don't know this stuff.
Also, none of my neighbors have wireless >.> can't steal their's, I try...

One solution, all you need are four things, 1) Duct tape 2) Scissors 3) Sponge 4) Water.
Here's how it works, at night after they go to sleep, duct tape the light area using the scissors/tape[ I chose duct tape because it's the most opaque one]. Play all you want, after you are finished get your sponge, soak it with a bit of water, take off the duct tape and use the sponge to wipe off the sticky residue of the tape.
Enjoy,
E.

duct tape tends to leave residue even after sponge and water... i reccomend taking a few cotton balls, and using masking tape to tape em over the lights... prob is you need to remember to take em off befor your dad wakes up.

Well he doesn't have to take it off if it's dark there. And hot water and sponge works well to take off the residue, but the cottons are a good idea.

Get a wireless internet reciever and use the neighbors network?( only if they have one).

Nearly got the same problem - can't do shit. I even doubt that my parents will be stupid just like that.

i also have another way, disconnect the ethernet cable from your router, run the cable out the window, and run it into your room, and plug in
.... but you should get a ethernet connector and 2nd cable to leave out the window so you dont need to run it in the hallway or w/e

I think that won't work, his problem is that if the router is ON then the lights will be on; so even if his cable is not visible his slot light will still be on which allows his parents to catch him.

Yeah E is right, and I cant duck tape stuff, I tried that, it still glows a faint green after duck tape is over it.
