Afterglow Universal Wireless Headset (Blue) - Microsoft Store

This is what the missus and I currently use. First pair of gaming headsets we've ever owned and they work like magic. Great sound and the wireless distance is fucking phenomenal. I can keep these on and walk around my yard and still here and talk to people.

currently there is a massive hype about buying both things separately.
I will do so, too, if my beyerdynamics mmx2 decide to break.

you can get decent mics for 15 bucks, and then crash the rest of the budget into the headphones,
and in 99% of the cases quality/$ ratio will bury any headset. longevity also higher.

anyway, when creating such a topic, you would always want to give a budget (and if you want open or closed headsets ...)

Can't go wrong with the steelseries ones. They are comfortable, retractable mic (I do a lot on a laptop) and have pretty decent sound quality. apparently they have sets under 50$ SteelSeries North America - SteelSeries 3Hv2 I know if you have a bestbuy near you they are usually on sale there.

I don't know how much you do on consoles, but this was the first set I found that was cross platform that I really liked.
SteelSeries North America - SteelSeries Siberia V2 Cross-Platform Headset

At any given time we have 3-4 gamers at my place, my headsets my favorite. :-P

astro a40 hands down one of the best headset you can get. Yes it is expensive. Get it with the mixamp for surround sound and stuff.
I own this headset and i am fully satisfied. Some of my friends tried it and 2 of them bought it, and 2 other friends is going to buy it when their current breaks.
they all changed from Razer Megalodon to Astro a40.
Get the audio system for 250 Dollars.
Find it at a retailer or buy it on Gaming Headset, Gaming Headphones | ASTRO Gaming Headsets (america) or Gaming Headset, Gaming Headphones | Astro Gaming Headsets (europe) Casque de jeu, écouteurs de jeu | Casques Astro Gaming (france) or Gaming Headset, Gaming Headphones | Astro Gaming Headsets (germany)
Find the price best for you.

also the mic is very good, there is mic feedback.
    Surround sound with mixamp.
    does not need mixamp.
2 different cables (mobile and inline mute, you get inline when buying the audio system and mobile if u buy headset standalone)
can use mixamp to play on consoles (xbox 360, xbox one, ps3, ps4 and probrably more)

also its not very heave, and its comfortable.

also do not buy turtle beach headset. its breaks very fast. I handle all headsets with CARE and yet i've had 2 broke. Also my friend has had one break on him.
Siberia V2 is also good, 2.1 only though. Comfortable headset. When i tried the siberia v2 after like 3 months suing the astros i could feel that the siberia sits very tight on your head which i dislike. With the astros, they dont sit tight on your head but the sound is incredible anyways.
Check some reviews before you buy ANY headset.
I recommend watching 2-3 reviews from highly subscribed users on youtube.
Many people claim astro a40's to be one of the, if not THE best headset.
also do NOT bvuy the a50's, Many people says the a40's are way better.

Actually, I have heard people complain about my siberia being too tight :-P doesnt phase me in the slightest, but thats not unfounded. I worked at gamestop for a few seasons, and totally second the turtle beach bit as well. Ill stick with my steelseries tho

Make sure to invest in something to protect your cord or go wireless if you have dogs/cats/ferrets/etc. I can't count how many times I have had animals have ruined my cords and ruined many headphones, especially ones with thin cords.

Hmm I use like $60 Audio Technica headphones for my studio music and for gaming. Works fine and are comfortable. I would just go to guitar center (if you are U.S.) and test some out. A lot of what they sell, I'll be honest, is garbage. I don't believe in that guy that is pointing you towards overpriced headphones with built in audio processing units. Rip off.
