Yet I would not consider Hag as item-independent The problem is that heroes that were formerly rendered "noob/beginner heroes" (because they were easy to play, could escape easily etc.) in DotA have simply vanished in HoN. There is no Clinkz, Sniper, Bounty Hunter, Skeleton King or Cent Warchief any longer - Most heroes that are actually easy to play annull it by being insanely fragile, like MQ or Arachna. And as a beginner, you neither stay back at towers during laning phase nor stay out of the centre of a clash, implying you die nearly immediately. In my opinion it doesn't make a difference whether your hero got 2 or 3 active spells or so, what is pretty more important is the fact that your hero does not need many items to be playable and that his skills are not that complicated. I mean, Forsaken Archer got many different actives, none of which are actually difficult to understand, while Maliken got only few REALLY active spells that have many different functions and are quite difficult to master.
This means: in my opinion noobs should not only play the heroes with little amount of active spells, but rather item-independent (supportive) heroes that do not demand too much micro (thus Devourer, Valkyrie, Ophelia etc. are inappropriate).
    Right.

Offtopic: Someone remember the name of the old hero of dota that based his skill upon the use of golds?

I'd say arma is the easiest hero for startes, though I agree with tromelow. With arma, you click and spam W whenever you are close to an enemy, and arma can also suck up lots of damage.

Lets say that when you start play, you won't go play competitively (sorry for wrong word). You go play noob games and we assume that enemy are noobs too, so easy heros is any, we take out heros like ophelia/valk/chipper/maliken/wild soul...but rest are easy to master...a beginner isn't playing the game to win at start, but play to learn, soo I assume that every hero are good for them excluding those more harder, but even those are good for them to start! You will have to play them all if you want to be good! :o

Though, my friend as been playing HoN for like 3 weeks and he improved a lot! He started out by playing with Pyro/Glacius than he got bored and tried out Corrupted Disciple, than he changes for others.. Now he is playing with Valkary and Hammer!!

Appreciate the info on characters. Being a newbie to hon myself, the more information on different characters and how they play, the better.
