Introduction
Okay, so i decided to make this tutorial which explains how you get protected from viruses, and spyware you might get.
Its a common problem for much people, you have a lot of stuff on your computer, and then suddenly your computer freezes, get stucked, or closes itself down. Its very annoying, and i will try to explain how to prevent fatal losses of stuff you might have on your computer.
Antiviruses
First of all, to be safe on the internet, you need an antivirus, which will search and destroy everything which is infected. I would recommend the following free ones:
•
ClamWin - I didn't test this though, i just know its good, and it gets most viruses going around the internet. Get it here:
Download ClamWin Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows
•
Antivir - I have been using this myself for a while and i didn't get any viruses, i'm very pleased with it, and i would recommened using it. Get it here:
Download Free Antivirus Products
•
Avg - This is a very popular and good antivirus which you can set to auto scan your computer on a certain time of the day. It finds allmost all viruses, and its very user friendly. I have been using this myself, and i didn't get any problems with it. Get it here:
AVG Free - Download AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition for Windows XP and Vista
•
Avast Antivirus - Also a good free antivirus, Get it here:
avast! 4 Home Edition - FREE antivirus software - Download
There is MUCH more free ones, just search google, this was just the best ones i could find
You can run multiply antiviruses at the same time, means, you can install all of them, this might slow down your computer, so its not recommended unless you want to be very very protected.
Online Scanners
No antiviruses provides 100% accuarcy, so if you downloaded a file from the internet, which you find suspicious, then thats the solution you should go for. Here is 2 online scanners which supports multiply antivirs:
•
Jotti - This site provides a good scanner, which supports much antivirs, your file needs to be under 10 megabyte, else you wont be able to upload and scan it.
•
VirusTotal - Same as Jotti, this is used much to scan files here on d3scene and its the one i use the most. Very nice and fast scanner.
•
VirusChief also a good one, i didn't test it though
Spyware
Spyware is very annoying, its a thing which much of the free antiviruses can't detect, or delete. Spyware slows your computer, and sends you popups all the time you are searching the internet. There is some good programs to prevent this.
•
Spybot Search And Destroy - This program does what it says, it searches for spyware, and delete it as soon as it finds it. Very usefull, and very popular. Works well, and is recommened. Get it here:
The home of Spybot-S&D!
•
Adaware - This program is very popular, and i think its the most used one, if you compare these too. I have been using it, and i feel very pleased with it. Get it here:
Ad-Aware 2008 Free - Lavasoft
•
Spyware Terminator Another spyware killer, Get it here:
Free spyware removal and spyware protection - Spyware Terminator
I will recommened everyone to use one of these, as spyware is very annoying to get on your computer.
Firewalls
Firewalls is also important, They prevents:
# Viruses
# Spyware and adware
# Spam
# Pop Ups
# Strangers accessing your personal information
Here is some free ones you can download:
•
Zone Alarm - This one is recommend, its very affective, and does its "job" pretty good, Get it here:

•
Firewall Plus Free Firewall - Also a firewall, i didn't test it though, Get it here:
PC Tools Firewall Plus - Free Firewall Download Tips
If you follow this guide, then your chances of getting infected is very low, but still, i would like to say, when you download something from the internet, then
ALLWAYS Scan it, it might be infected, even if it doesn't looks like an harmfull file.
Files you shouldn't open without scanning:
.bat / pif / com / cmd
.vbs / vbe / vb / bas
.exe / msi
.pif
.bas
.com
.msi
.reg
------------------------------------------
That's all for now

I hope it helped some of you. Please leave a comment, It would be very apreciated

Thanks!
