Ubuntu 8.04 or Kubuntu 8.04?

I am thinking about purchasing one of these two Linux distributions, because they were the two recommended to me. I want feedback, because the two people I have heard recommendations from complain all the time about some kind of computer issue.

I will take suggestions for other distributions, or just a different OS all together, but I really want to try a linux, because I have had enough of Windows right now...

Ubuntu is easier I think. It has better support on the ubuntu community. I suggest you try both.

Downloads can be found on the homepages of the the distributions.

That shouldn't matter. Kubuntu and Ubuntu only differ through different Desktop Environments. KDE and GNOME. The general support should be the same. Other than different software and environment, everything else should be the same.
There are usually ports of WM specific software. Take a look at the GIT repositories and the apt-get repos.
