This is not true. You may hold your breath for 2-5 minutes or more, depending on your skill, to make your body more efficient with oxygen, but that is while you are in a deeply relaxed state. Any breath holding while in activity is terrible. You may wear a snorkle that highly 'limits' your oxygen intake, but do not hold your breath you are going to damage your body and mind.
