To be honest, thats the only way it will get big. Any amount of prize money over like $30 will get all top NA gm's coming to play.

This is partially true. But if you were to claim that Playhem is only possible because there is prize money you'd be wrong. Playhem is great because it moves at a fast pace, is reliable, is a well known name, and an easy way to get your name out as an SC2 player.

Also partially because a lot of other tournaments require qualifiers or other hoops to jump through or you have to play longer and harder for more money, but with bigger risk of not getting that prize money. Playhem actually is great because it has tourneys for all levels of play. Most tourneys are for pro esports players, IMO.

You missed a lot of what makes Playhem popular.
