FalseLogic's Apply Image Sig Starter Tutorial

Welcome to my tutorial. This is the first tutorial I have ever written, and I am going to write it in forum format (Not a picture with instructions).

THIS TUTORIAL IS NOT FOR AN ENTIRE SIG, THIS IS FOR THE START OF A SIG. I SUGGEST YOU GO ON YOUR OWN AT THE END OF THIS TUTORIAL.

START:

1. Make a new document with the following settings (You change the size to whatever you want).

You should now have this:

2. Cover the background with your unsized render:

3. Resize your render, and place it in the sig.

4. New layer

5. In the new layer, go to Image >> Apply Image and press "Ok"

6. Now go to: Filter >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur. Set the radius anywhere from 1.0 to 1.5.

7. Now erase on that layer over the render. This just erases the blur over the render:

8. New Layer... Image >> Apply Image again.

9. Go to Filter >> Distort >> Glass

10. Erase on the render except for the very edge.

11. New Layer, Image >> Apply Image once again.

12. Go to Filter >> Distort >> Displace, and leave the setting where they are. Select a .PSD from another sig that you have already made.

13. Erase Over the Render. Try not to get into the background too much, as this makes it look weird.

14. New Layer, Image >> Apply Image AGAIN

15. Now get your smudge tool with these settings:

16. Now smudge from the center of the render outwards. Smudge it as much as you can.

17. Now Go down to the Layer Window:

18. Change the layer mode to: "Linear Dode (Add)"
It should now look like this:

As you can tell, this is really bright. The next step will fix this:

19. Get the "Burn Tool" and lightly go over the entire image until it looks better.

In mine you can see that it looks like there is a line around the render... This is because the render wasn't cut out extremely well. This is usually not there.

20. Now go ahead and do anything else you want to the sig.

Yeah, this is for an extremely basic sig. Remember, do not use this for an entire sig. This is at most 1/4 of the sig.

The sig you see in my signature right now was over 30 layers.

It looks like the guy from Shoot Em Up, but it's not. I thought that entire movie was HILARIOUS!

Yeah, this was one of the first techniques that I figured out on my own. I used it in a few sigs...

Like these (I don't like these anymore):

And something similar here:
