    newbie battle.net questions

    1) what do the symbols on the map represent (i.e. yellow dots, red dots, house...) ?
    2) how can I see where the other player is ?
    3) when using the anonymous player matching after a player has been found at what stage is him ? I mean, is he/ she just starting building up things or maybe has already an army up and running ?

Thanks and sorry if the questions sound very newbie.

    1) Yellow dots are creeps that you can kill for xp, same with red (just harder creeps). houses are shops i believe.

    2) You can download a maphack that we have here at D3scene.

    3) He should have just started the same time you joined.

Since your so new to the game.. i suggest you actually read the manual that game with the game.
It'll teach you all the basics and we'll teach you the more advanced stuff later on.
Like how to hack/cheat and what not.

If you don't actually have your hands on the manual simply reply and i'll dig up a e-book copy of it or a link to one.

Risker, please can you post it please ? Actually on my cd there's a file called warcraft III documentation.pdf, but it's only 9 pages and contains only system requirements and copyright informations.

It's nice. Thanks. Even if it concerns TFT :-), which I have yet to start playing. However seems like I'm the only one looking for some kind of official manul.

well you should notice that the game (ROC) is very, very old. no one in earth is searching for a manual anymore so that's why you shouldn't find one the easy way. i would suggest to just start playing TFT and skipping the ROC part. just install it any play as many games as you can and don't search for anything like a manual, try it out yourself.

the game explains itself pretty good. if you want to build a hero it says you need an (as undead) alter of darkness -> if you got it then you can choose one of the four heroes, you click at one -> it will say you need more ziggurats (hero needs 5 supply, ziggurat gives 10) -> then you can produce your very own hero !

you continue this on and on and with time you will learn everything. the very basics like mining gold and harvesting wood you should already be known of. i would suggest you to choose one race (orc is the easist for beginners since it has most hp units out of the game) and play 4 vs 4 in the ladder, good luck and enjoy.

Basically that's what I'm doing. My doubts mostly concern the online playing. However so far I'm enjoying a lot the ROC campaigns.
