Because they are most likely hacks what you are downloading and hacks in warcraft often modifies the mpq file or something like this.
Many antivirus programs detect it as a virus.

Many antivirus programs detect it as a virus.
That, plus many of our members code in AutoIt, and anti-virus software tends to detect AutoIt scripts as viruses/trojans, etc.

things which can cause false positives:
-hacks are actively "messing" with your memory, thus accessing your computer (like a virus)
(for example wc3's game.dll to reveal the map, but a virus could alter IE to use security holes...)
-they are often crypted (malware is often crypted too), so other ppl cant steal the authors work + makes it harder for anti-hack purposes
-some hacks (trainers more likely) have strings? which are similar (or even exactly the same) like ones of popular viruses...
    ...
I dont think this list is complete

so basically, a programmer could invest a (lot) of time to avoid false positives, but it basically isnt worth it, since you could be blacklisted for so many random reasons...

eset32 is very good when it comes to false positives... only some trainers and patching-cracks are falsely detected...
