Well if you hook the chat function and reparse it in your module...
Kinda like a keylogger for chat messages if you understand what I mean

    1) I didn't collect any experiences with Garena yet.
    2) Dunno.
    3) Yes!
    4) Via hostbot if you've got access.

I will post a little bit about what I remember about chat I guess.

    1) Hosts will typically tell players when they join the game the IP addresses of other players. GHost lies about this address I believe, so no player knows another's IP address.

    2) If a player can, s/he will try to send chat messages directly to players, bypassing the host. Obviously this is not possible if the player does not know the IP address of any other player. Thus, all chat messages get routed through the host if the IP addresses are wrong (as is the case with GHost above). Obviously this means you can view (nearly) all chat as a host if you do things right.

    3) Chat messages that have no recipients (ie, sending to observer chat when there are no observers) does not result in any chat packet being sent.

    4) Chat packets are basically optional to receive. Players will not desync if they do not get them. Thusly, it is entirely possible and even common that you will not receive a chat packet at all. You typically will not receive a chat packet if, for example, you are not in the intended recipient group. Host bots and hacks can change this up, but this is basically the case in normal Wc3.

    5) Action packets, unlike chat packets, are not optional to receive. Action packets can influence the game and thus must be received. A beneficial (in your case) side effect of this is that chat messages are included in certain action packets under the right circumstances. The "right" circumstance is that the map must register the "register player chat" event; thus, the chat action packet is optional! Most trigger heavy maps probably have chat based commands and probably will use this event, though. I do not see any purpose for the action packet to store what group the chat message was sent to, though (all, ally, observer), so this information might get lost. Do not recall exactly some things, but it might be the case that these chat action packets are sent once per event registration ... so it may be possible that you would receive the same chat message potentially dozens of times per chat message.

    6) Ladder games do not register player chat and you are not the host so probably you are not likely to be able to read other players' chat in this case. Not saying it is impossible, but if it is you likely would have to fool the host somehow.

About all I care to say. Most of it from perhaps years old memory, so take it as you will.
