Maphack Detector Idea

    Maphack Detector Idea

    Would it be possible to create a map hack detector that uses JASS natives to do something like this:




    Register Player Selects a Unit
    Is Unit Fogged for Triggering Player

    if so -> alert local player somehow, maybe with printed text.

    I know that it would get a lot of false positives, but I'm just asking if it's possible, because if it was, it could clearly be improved.

    The only problem with it is that the IsUnitFogged function returns true if the unit is in your vision decay. I forget what it's called, but it's when you have vision of an area, and leave that area, there is a decay rate at which the fog comes back. During that time, you can still see there, and click units there, but that function says the area is already fogged.

    So it could be a little safer, something like:

    Register Clicked Unit
    if IsUnitFogged
    sleep 200 ms
    if Players selection includes unit
    if IsUnitFogged
    return maphacker!

    These could allow be counted as strikes against the player, so you could check how many strikes each player has, and when one player has a large amount of strikes, you know he must be maphacking.

    This whole idea is broken by Safeclick though, lol.

    ^can we just add any units that get inside the vision of the corresponding player, and if that player somehow choose a unit outside its field of vision, then alert everyone? afaik that means we don't have to work with the 0.4 second update interval of fog (cmiiw though, i forgot if there is the "unit gets within vision of another unit")

    Would be too buggy duo to warcraft 3's way of declairing a "fogged" unit. It would happen all the time.

    It was done in Dream Dota so it does work, when I was using dream dota it worked perfectly...

    Maybe someone with good war3/JASS knowledge could REMAKE it. (Cause its already been done. >.>)

    nah.. it bugs for clicks at the edge of fog and there's nothing you can do about it.. anyway it;s useless due to 'safeclick'

    hmm ok, but it still had a function where it could detect when some RIGHT clicks on a rune (which proved quite helpful to me).

    Also on the server I play on, im 99% sure not one of the n00b hackers use safeclick
