it's a griefing tool, really. i guess if you are pretty good at the game and want to go 11-0 solo to show off or something, it could help your odds but otherwise it's for getting on smurfs and denying people their wins.

also - the second method is solo only, right? 1 person can't tie a game of more than 2 people alone...

That's not quite right.

Each account has a "trust level". (Let's say you the trust level starts at 10, but it could be any number). If you tiehack someone with the same trust level as you, both players tie, and both players loose 1 trust. If you tiehack someone with more trust than you, you loose and both players loose 1 trust. if you tiehack someone that has less trust than you, you win and both players loose 1 trust.

So here is an example of a way you could tiehack more than once:
-Create account A (10 trust).
-Someone creates account B (10 trust).
-Tiehack account B with account A... the result is a tie and 9 trust for both players.
-The next time you play with account B, you will know they have 9 trust. Tiehack them again. The result is a tie and 8 trust for both players.

Here is another way:
-Create account A (10 trust).
-Some jerk creates a account J (10 trust).
-Everyone hates the jerk with account J, so 5 people tiehacked him.
-When you play against the jerk with account J, he has 5 trust. If you use tiehack on him, you get a win, he gets a loss, he goes to 4 trust, and you go to 9 trust.

Enjoyed the technical jargon. Studying programming at severe beginner level...don't really know where I'd start though for anything more advanced...got distracted with other work at any rate.

I'm unfamiliar with tiehack...why would it only work in a 1x1 match? I understand only using it once and all that.

Because it is "fixed", the most people dont try it.

That's what it does in ladder games too. But in ladder game instead of a loss u get a tie because blizz thinks u desynced by accident. Only works 1 time per account per long time (not sure how long perhaps forever.)

Thanks Tyrano. I used this on a guy in FFA, who was helped by another guy. Essentially I was teamed. So first I hid around for a good hour, endless hidden farms on gold rush. And Then at the very last second, I downloaded this, remembering that I saw it on the forum and was like "PERFECT." So I downloaded it and tied him on the last farm while he was talking shit [:
Thanks

There is also a win-hack 2x per account I discovered while cracking something else. It involves changing the way that units are targeted. Here is a rough outline (sorry I forgot the offsets because it didn't really interest me at the time):

1. stop every unit you own from attacking
2. modify the way units are targeted so the same (arbitrary) unit is always targeted
3. granted your opponent is still playing normally, he will drop because bnet will think he is hacking not you

only works 2 times before bnet notices it is you.
