[a.2] Introduction
Hey, it's Arch, bringing you another
war3 guide. This guide will teach you how to tower rush as Undead against orc (and orc only, using it against any other race will result in complete and utter failure). Remember, as all strategies require, you will need to be able to move your units around and focus fire (right click micro). Don't come crying if your micro sucks and you lose all your fiends to a lone grunt. Be aware this strategy is best used on maps that you can walk through (EI, TM, TS..) Gnoll Wood is orc's playground, you'll have a hard time tower rushing there unless its close spawn positions.
[a.3] Build Order
Now, the build order is pretty simple, a basic Fiend build order, except you will make a 6th acolyte after your fourth fiend to summon ziggurats for your tower rush.
- Graveyard (Can be after crypt, doesn't matter.)
- Crypt
- 2nd Aco (5th aco)
- Altar
- Ziggurat
- Ghoul
- Tomb of Relics
- Fiend/Death Knight
- Fiend
- Fiend
- Zig (at 26/30 Food)
- Fiend
- 6th Aco
- Sell TP/Buy new Rod of Necromancy/Sacrifical Skull/Dust
[a.4] Gameplay
Using the basic Undead fiend build, creep as much as you can until your 4th fiend comes out. Be sure not to lose fiends. If your opponent is using Far Seer and its hurting you, consider NOT tower rushing. If you have good micro, simply focus the wolves down, the FS itself can't do much damage.
Before you tower rush, an average player should be at least able to get level 2 for DK aura, allowing your units to maneuver faster in/out of your opponent's base.
The reason you don't Sell TP early is to throw your opponent off, thinking your doing a basic fiend build, when your actually setting up for a tower rush.
(When you enter your opponents base, he/she should have just reached Tier 2, or are close to. You'll be able to cancel Low HP Tier 2 buildings at the time)
Remember, the first thing you should do is set up your blight with your sacrifical skull as soon as you enter your opponent's base. Make sure you summon your ziggurats out of burrow range, but in the range of his Altar/Barracks/Main. Enter the base, focus the burrows to force a battle.
As soon as you see his Blademaster (most likely, considering everyone thinks the Blademaster is imba) and grunts. If Blademaster is under 50% health, focus it down. Otherwise, focus the grunts. If your Death Knight is level 3, Coil will be very efficient when healing fiends. Remember, fiends can be backed off, and grunts will not be hitting them while the fiends are moving, giving you time to deal more damage to that grunt. Remember to keep making fiends until your food count is 40/40.
Don't forget to upgrade your ziggurats to Spirit Towers/Cold Towers, the reason your units are there is to stall until the towers get up. Remember to focus, without it, fiends don't do as much damage as they are supposed to. Simply focusing will win you the game. Towers are just a convient factor to lean the odds to your favor.
[a.5] Micro Information
Remember, your micro doesn't have to be crazy gosu pro-like, all you have to do is focus fire your opponents units and back off fiends that are weak/being focused on. YOU have the advantage. You should have more units, and your units are ranged, (and faster, assuming you have aura). If your Death Knight gets focused, you can just back it off, he is simply buying you more time.
Dealing with the second hero: Just make sure the first hero is low on health. If the opponent is using Blademaster, you'll probably be seeing Shadow Hunter. Make sure Blademaster is low, so he can't Hex-Push on your fiends. The advantage is always on your side, your pushing your opponent, and your opponent is not pushing you.
Also, killing a burrow early is also good. It'll kill the opponent's food count, making them unable to build the second hero for support and more grunts to defend. In fact, his grunts are better off dead, considering if they are backed off in the red, they'll just be filling useless food count while your towers are going up.
Killing the shop can also be crucial for victory - he will be unable to buy Heal Pots/Salves to heal up while your attacking. The advantages an Undead player has over orc makes this strategy almost unstoppable.
