[Guide] Opening Ports

First disable/uninstall/open Ports in all your Software Firewalls. If you really need one get Comodo:

SSL Free Firewall Two Factor Authentication Products from Comodo

But if you are NEWB. Do not install this. It will prevent you from hosting if you do not know how to configure the Firewall!

This guide is outdated. New Guide: Hosting on Warcraft III for Windows

Open ports in the SP2 Firewall

Quote:
windows firewall -->
system -> Safety Center -> Windows Firewall ->exceptions -> Port -> Name: Wc3 port: 6112 in TCP
~by Dexxter
Alternativley: Disable the Firewall in all Service-Packs
Go here to the direct MS Homepage for a Guide: How can I turn my Windows-Firewall off.

In generally you find ALL routers with newbsafe Guides there. Before continuing with this guide please first visit portforward.com

Quote:
0.1 a Find out your Router IP. Go to the Command (start/run/cmd) and type ipconfig. The Standard Gateway is your router IP.
a. Type http://Your Router IP into your web browser's address bar.

b.

Username: None
PassWord: Admin or admin
or
Username: admin
Password: 1234 or password

(use different combos)

c. Once you're in the settings, click the Applications/Gaming link that you see on the router's home page. If you don't see an Applications/Gaming link, look for an Advanced link. If you see that, click it and then click the Port Forwarding link.

d. In the first row of boxes, put the following:

Application- (whatever you want to call it, i.e. "Warcraft III")
Start - 6112
End - 6119
Protocol - BOTH

IP address - the last three numbers of your computer's IP address. To find out what those numbers are, follow these steps:
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Type "cmd" (Windows 2000 and XP) or command (Windows 95, 98 and Me) in the Run box, then click OK
- When the black box comes up, type "ipconfig" and hit Enter. The computer's IP address will be listed.

Back to the router settings - make sure the Enable box is checked, then save the settings. Try hosting a Warcraft III game again.

Hope it helps

Go to: How is Port Forwarding Configured?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

IF NOTHING WORKS
disconnect your modem for 1 minute reconnect it than restart your router by holding the small button in the back(with ports open) or directly connect your computer to your modem if this does not work, go back to your modem>router set up and keep ports open while shutting off your windows firewall (in your router setting) only do this if you have another firewall set up such as mcafee.

[Guide] Opening Ports

Alot of people with "D-Link" routers have problems with hosting, and i think i know the problem..

Open Command Promt (CMD), by holding the Windows-button, and pressing R, then type "cmd" and press Enter.

Type "ipconfig" and look for "Ip-Adress" or something. with me it is 192.168.0.1 so look for something like that.

Then type it in your browser (like Internet Explorer) and type "admin" as username and leave the password blank unless you have set a password.. (this might change, but other possibilitys is that the pass is admin, or that there is blank in both.. just try to you get in..)

Then click Advanced (at the top), and here is where alot of people do wrong. Here they just fill in the info and they think they open the ports, but at the left side of the page you see that "Virtual Server" is marked.. you need to go to the Firewall and open them there.. it might help to open them in the Filter page too.. But then, also try to follow Hendricius's guide..
