    What is in your realmlist?

    it should say:

    set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
    set patchlist eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com

    or

    set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
    set ptachlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

    if u r from US.

Private server have their own realmlists. If you have your realmlist spelled good, you have 2 meanings to get error: 1. Bad account name --> game will tell you that you just maybe bad spelled your account information 2. You have bad version of your game --> game will tell you that you have bad version
Because you are not getting one of these error and you are playing on a private server i think there is problem in spelling your realmlist, check it

The realmlist.wtf file in your WoW directory controls which server your WoW client connects to on start-up. The default version involves the text "logon.worldofwarcraft.com", to tell the game to use your internet connection to hook up with the retail servers. To get onto private servers, you maintain the "set realmlist" section, and replace the rest of the text with whichever IP address is mentioned in the installation/log on guide associated with the server.

    For example,
    set realmlist eu(us).logon.worldofwarcraft.com
    set patchlist eu(us).version.worldofwarcraft.com

    goes to

    set realmlist private-server-572.org

That's most likely your problem if you play private and get the "cannot connect" message. Problems with your account name/password, game version, the detection of hacks or a suspended account get different error messages.

You're coming across as quite obnoxious here.
If you say you play private, and probably did so before having a f***ed-up PC, then you will remember going into the WoW directory and editing the realmlist file to get on private servers in the first place.

Helpful, but you need to cool down also...

make sure you have your realmlist set correctly and that the server is up.
