Exclamation WoW Model Edit Fix 2.4.2 (post-Blizzard alert)

Greetings,

It appears Blizzard have recently upgraded their detection system for third-party software, for example, the Model Edit Fix software and the files associated it when launching has been noticed when you launch WoW.

Luckily the guy behind the project has released an updated version that allows players to get around it.

I have uploaded the file here:
WoW Model Edit Fix for 2.4.2 - Undetected version download

If you have any queries, please read the various threads for previous versions in the Modelchanging forum, then try asking here.

Essentially, extract the contents of the folder to your main WoW directory, the base level. Make sure all model edits you wish to load are titled like "patch-@.MPQ" where @ is for any digit not currently used, or an upper case letter. Launch WoW with wowme.exe, and press F8 prior to log-in.

No. Attempting to start WoW without the WoWME tool will fail. WoWME is required to trigger the loading of the MPQ archives and also override any Blizzard detection tool that is noticing you are using a non-official patch archive.

However, once you have loaded WoW with the WoWME.exe application one time and done the F8 initialisation, you can freely load again with the standard WoW program or launcher, so long as you haven't altered your selection of MPQs to load.

I did the F8 installation, but WoW will not run using the standard launcher. I get to the login screen, login, then i get a crash error.

However, it seems to work fine when i load up with WoWME. Not sure if this is a bug with the model edit I have (the regular UD to Chinese UD one) or if it is due to an error on my behalf.

Hmm, well in my case, after I add a new MPQ edit to the pile in my Data folder, running wowme.exe to launch it, then doing the F8 prompt once on the initial log-in, is all I need to do and then I can freely activate using wow.exe or launcher.exe on a future log-in. But if it's working where you can do it each time only through wowme, then at least it's working. Can't offer any assistance beyond that really. Try hopping through previous Model Edit Fix threads, see if it mentions any problem you may have overlooked in file placement, naming or something.

Some patches require that after you load WoW with the WoWME.exe you have to launch WoW from the program WoWEmuHacker with the 'Model Hacking' option enabled.
