First, download My Warcraft Studio version 9 heres a link: My Warcraft Studio
Now open it up, and click the Open button and go to your WoW data folder. Go to the common.mpq file and open it.
DO NOT EVER TOUCH A .m2 FILE IN MWCS. EVER. It will crash if you do.
Now, left click on the CREATURE file, I'm going to take you step by step through changing an epic mount to a different epic mount.
Make sure you are left clicked on the CREATURE file, and then right click it, click extract folder.
Now, save the folder as CREATURE in your WoW data folder.
Go to the folder (outside of MWCS)
Go to the folder of the mount you want, copy the .blp texture you want to use (based on color) (i.e. right click and click copy)
And paste it in the folder of your Mount, (for me FROSTSABRE)
Now, you need to go back to MWCS and go to the Creature (lowercase) file, go to the file for your mount, and extract all the textures individually to the mount folder. (you can touch .blp files) remember, left click first, then right click. (this will make sense in a minute) You could also just extract the Creatuer folder to ur WoW data folder, with a name like Creature1 like I do. Then you can just copy and paste the textures outside of MWCS. (this makes it easy for multiple model changes)
Now, paste the other mount skin then create a copy of it many times (as many times are there are skin files for your mount. for an epic frostsaber, this is 7)
For me, i just take all the PvP Frostsaber skins (epic mounts have the PvP label) and put them on my desktop (also will make sense in a minute) so I can keep track of them.
Then right click the file (not in MWCS) and click rename, Ctrl + X the name, then delete the file, and paste the name on to one of the other mount skins you want skins you copied in so that the other mount skin reads the name of the mount skin (original).
Repeat this until you have all the skins done.
Now, go into the other mount folder (not in MWCS, we're done with it till I say so again) and copy the .m2 file. Put it in the mount folder you're using and do the CTRL + X thing with the name of the mount (i.e. PvPRidingFrostsabre.m2)
And now the hard part. (Well it's annoying)
IF you mess up while adding an m2 file to this archive, you have to start over, SO DON'T SCREW UP
Go into MWCS and click on Pack, and click "Create MPQ archive." Put it in the WoW data folder, and name it "patch-4"(no quotes).
Now, heres the boring and painstaking work. Click "Pack" "Add File To Archive" and go find the folder your changed mount files are in. Click on the m2 file first, now when it asks for name, keep the file name, and add to the front
"CREATURE\[mountfile name (like FROSTSABRE or RidingHorse)]\[filename].[file extension]
Click "Ok" don't hit enter.
Now, to make the job easier, this will add folders into your archive, so left click on the mount folder, then right click, and click "Copy Treepath", DO NOT TOUCH THE .m2 FILE
now, on the texture files you add in, you simple use CTRL + V (paste) and it will add "CREATURE\[mount folder]" so just add the "\" and click ok, don't hit enter or it doesn't work.
After you finish adding the files, Click "Pack" and "Save and Close Archive" and you're done. DON'T forget this step. Then just load up WoW to see your model changes!
