WoW Private Server guide

Hello and Welcome to World of Warcraft, The World of Private Servers.
First, All of this guide was made by me, and is only compatible with Windows
Your probably raving to get in to the World of Private Servers.
If you haven't yet gone onto private servers (aka. Toxic-WoW, Ani-WoW, etc.) please do so.
This will prepare you for what's ahead.

Now we need to connect to the private server.
Go onto the website of which server you want to go on, most of the websites have their name in the URL
ex. AniWoW - Fully dedicated server for your enjoyment!
There should be a link saying "Sign up" or "Server Registration."
Click it, duh?
Fill in the Username and password and if you have TBC of not (The Burning Crusade)
Fill in anything else that it requires and your done,... ish.
On that page or the homepage it should say how to connect, Click it,...

How to Connect

1. Downloading necessary files:
The game ( World of Warcraft ) - Download
The expansion Burning Crusade ( Required! ) - Download
2. Download and install update patches to our supported version. (2.4.x)
You can use WoW to auto-download patches, or your can download them manually from these sites:

3. Account Registration
In order to connect to our servers, you need to create a free account.
Click here to proceed. (Your account may take up to 5 minutes to be activated)
4. Edit Realmlist
1. Go to your World of Warcraft directory. The default directory is (C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft).
2. Open with notepad the file realmlist.wtf
3. Change the line, replace both lines "us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com" with "wow.animmorpg.com" then save and close.
For example:
set realmlist wow.animmorpg.com
set patchlist wow.animmorpg.com"


Number 4. is pretty simple, go into your World of Warcraft directory, (where you installed World of Warcraft). Mine is "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft"
You should see some folders like Data, Cache and others.
There is a file called "Reallist.WTF." and no, it does not stand for what you think, It stands for "Warcraft Text File."
Open this with notepad.
It should say...

set realmlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

or

set realmlist uk.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist uk.version.worldofwarcraft.com

Change it to

set realmlist (The servers IP aka "wow.animmorpg.com")
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com (The Patchlist is just downloading patches)

Now once you've registared your account, it should take 5-10 minutes for the account to reach the server and back.
Open WoW and enter your username and password.
If you have trouble logging on, just post below.
Now you should be connected to the private server.
Congradulations, you have completed the first step to enter the World Of Private Servers
Look around the server, I said fun-server before because there is custom things.
Around there should be a person. Speak to it.
Believe it or not, that was custom made!
Not by a special programmer, not some geek genius, but YOU can create it.
Spawn boxes, create bonfires even spawn stormwind, It is all possible for you to do.

First of all, we need to download the server
This is a link to it(thx Jargs)
AC Web Repack 7.7
WARNING! This will want connection to the internet frequently, please do not leave on just for the hell of it.
Now we need to set up the server.
There should be a Program called "Ac Web Ultimate Repack", open it and Install.
Are you done.... the answer will be after the underscore _no.
Close the "PLEASE READ ME, I AM TO NO INPORTANCE WHAT SO EVER".
And open up the place where you put your Server.
Open tools-Map extractor enUS-or enGB.
Copy the maps folder and AD.exe and put them in your WoW Directory.
Once done, open Ad.exe in your wow directory.
Now wait please. (elevator music)
Done, then copy your maps into C:/Ac Web Repack/Ascent (for whoever couldn't be stuffed to change the install directory.
Now open your WoW Directory
If you don't have wow, very simple, BUY IT.
Open Realmlist.WTF and change it to

set realmlist 127.0.0.1
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

Save and Close. (SaC)
Now to start the server, there should be an icon called Control Panel, once open, Click "MySql","Logon server" and "Ascent.
Once done, Open WoW and Login as
"Admin"
"Admin"
Once in Create a charecter.
Welcome to the World... of Private servers.

I have one other suggestion for you . Try to include helpful links at the end of your thread to other threads on D3scene. That would improve the quality even more .

I take and I make the server and stuff, and when I login it gets stuck at connected. What is going on?

make sure Mysql says something about connected and this is probably no longer valid to the private servers as it is out of date, ascent is gone already.

Lol, I wouldn't say gone - some servers still use ascent, I checked as the .info returns 'ascent'.
Although I already know what you're talking about kcm123, I think some people might get lost in all that up there =)

Compile your own! xD It's the best way
