    Exclamation Set up WoW server public

    First go to http://www.dyndns.com/ and set up and account. (got to you'r email and validate etc then log in)

    Second after clicking the confirmation link , log in and go to https://www.dyndns.com/account/services/hosts/add.htm

    Third type in the hostname you want IE. DOomcloud.( I suggest .servegame.org)
    Type you'r ip in then click CREATE HOST (CLICK NOTHING ELSE)!

    Fourth Edit you'r config files to have you'r new hostname in it IE mine is Doomcloud.servegame.org
    Put it in you'r realmlist.wtf and then launch you'r server

    You'r friends can use the same name/hostname with their Realmlist.wtf EASY!!

    Thanks leave rep++

    This method still requires port-forwarding whether you like it or not.. Setting a dynamic DNS is just pointing a name to a IP. So you still have to have port-forwarding enabled to properly setup your server else people cannot reach your computer. For simplicity and security-wise, I would recommend port-forwarding one by one, rather than putting your PC/Server in the DMZ.

    Its like this:
    Computer -> Doomcloud.servergame.org -> requests IP from DNS servers -> Receives IP and accesses host -> Router host blocks traffic due to no port forwarded to any systems on LAN

    If port was forwarded properly, it would be like this:
    Computer -> Doomcloud.servergame.org -> requests IP from DNS servers -> Receives IP and accesses host -> Router host looks up in its records to see where in LAN the port is forwarded to -> Router forwards traffic to the LAN ip specified.

    Thanks for the guide to set up a WoW server public.

    You will however still have to open your ports. Other users will just be able to access your server with a DYNDNS, making it easier compared to using an IP :-).
    You suck. Suck a little less and become a fan on Facebook.
