Your problem isnt your hardware.. it's definitely software related.. Is your problem related to downloading the patch or applying th patch?

If its related to applying the patch, and it just says "waiting for files to close" its realted to Wow already being run on your computer.. to fix this just hit control+alt+delete and close/kill either "Launcher.exe" or "Wow.exe" if either one of them is running.. That should fix the problem..

If its related to downloading the patch you might have some firewall issues, as the patch is downloaded through blizzard torrent...

Good luck, friend

Try this!

Close down all you viruzzz programs, firewall , Symantec etc. Open WoW, logon (update should automaticlly start) if it complete the ingame update and opens the dekstop update do this, close it down (unless it works ofc) then reopen WoW, relog and same.....

You could always go get it from a mirror like Volund said, Patch mirrors - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

GL!

Xerxes will become famous soon enough
I'm going to hazard a guess and agree with the above that the problem is a Blizzard Downloader issue, namely you have some form of firewall/network security installed that is preventing access for the patch streaming. Essentially, there's a good chance that if you have Norton/McAfee or others running, the patch cannot get through to your PC. Alternatively, if you're connecting through a network router for multiple PC's first, before your internet modem, then there will also be inbuilt systems blocking certain "ports" of access to your network, that would need opening. Scout around both on here and on the Blizzard Support site for advice/guides.
Hope this helps,
Xerxes.
